Public spending per school-age person was USD 70.81 (2018), among the lowest in the region and far below the regional average.
Attendance indicators show approximate gender parity and relatively moderate wealth-based disparities, though access inequalities persist.

Public spending per school-age person was USD 70.81 in 2018, a notably low level compared to neighboring countries and well below the regional average. This limited spending reflects severe constraints in the resources available for ensuring quality and equitable education.
The gender ratio was 1.00 in 2017, above the regional average and indicating full gender parity, with boys and girls attending school in equal proportions.
However, the wealth parity index was 1.31, showing that children from wealthier households were about 1.3 times more likely to attend school than those from the poorest households.
